For the past 11 years I’ve lived between 2 lives. Drastically different but equally lovable. And sometimes I want the best of both worlds.

My Haitian girls + American lifestyle. Am I allowed to say that?

The security, the comfort, the stability that my hometown invites. The other half of my family. But it doesn’t seem like that’s a possibility.

So, I pick you.

I wish I could give you the opportunities like riding a Merry Go Round, and seeing elephants, or going to a donut shop, and joining a piano class. I wish you could experience more of the world. And yet at the same time I’m so thankful for the adventurous life you do have and all

the blessings we have received. I’m thankful you’re happy and healthy and get the gift of going to school and living near the ocean. He has been so good to us.

I wish a lot of things at times. And a lot of things can’t all fit together from 2 lives into 1… But one thing I can promise you. I’ll be with you through thick or thin. I’ll work as hard as I can to keep food on the table and love flowing in our house. We’ll thank God for all we have and hold tightly onto His promises that He holds the future. He holds our hands. And He, only He, holds our weary hearts.

Haiti life is at times messy. I’ve questioned about staying or leaving. Helping or hurting. Right or wrong. Good or bad. Dedication or sacrifice.

But there’s one thing that always holds truth. The stability found in Jesus. It’s all we need to get from sunrise to sunset.

Whether here or there.

Jesus.

Be still and know… because He directs the paths.

Tomorrow is always unknown, but He calms the waves, and he calms the hearts.

And with Him I can find happiness in both worlds with both families being privileged to experience both loves.
